Final Canadian election comments and updates
- Rick Mercer (sort of like a Canadian Jon Stewart) commented that there’s a possibility for another election in “two or three months”. The re-elected Conservative government called for this election in the first place, calling themselves “dysfunctional”.
- The lowest voter turnout on record is around 60%, but this year’s turnout may be as low as 50%. Not enough data to know for sure at this point.
- “Student Vote” mock highschool election results: Conservatives reign supreme, NDP second, Liberals third, Greens fourth.
- Seat counts have been fluctuating a bit. See the latest on CBC’s website (seat counts change every few minutes)
Canadian Conservative minority government confirmed
Majority = 155 seats. 3 seats remaining.
Conservatives: 145
Liberals: 79
BQ: 47
NDP: 33
Our self-proclaimed “dysfunctional” government? It’s back.
Conservative majority “unlikely”; would need to win more than one out of every two seats remaining, including many they have never won before.
